Gender Sensitization Programs
The Departmental Gender Champion Committee takes care of the events and programmes related to Gender sensitization.
The Practice
The Department regularly organises programmes on gender sensitisation. This is not limited to academics alone but our engagements extend beyond it in terms of our outreach to various other social activities like organising cultural events, counselling students, and engaging with various NGOs and organisations which are working for the same cause.
Objectives of the Practice
The objective of this practice is to translate feminist philosophy into practice. In the context of the ethical challenges that are being witnessed in our day-to-day life in terms of gender bias, there is a need for students to get acquainted with context sensitivity, relativist logic and the constructionist concept of gender. The motivation behind the programme is to construct a live translation of the theoretical issues on feminist philosophy that are taught in our courses. We endeavour to work for the all-round development of the student. Our motto is not only to make our students intellectually sound but also morally responsible. These programmes are our humble beginning towards the same.
Evidence of Success
This programme has enabled the Department to sensitise students as well as faculty members and to make the environment amicable and gender friendly for one and all. Many of our students have ventured into social services after graduating from the Department. Some of our students are working as civil servants, politicians, and journalists. Some others have opened their NGOs.
